After the ascension of Jesus, the disciples went to preach the gospel starting from Jerusalem to the entire world. Now we find missionaries all over the world and their main job is to preach the word of God so p[eople may get the light and be saved.
To do the ministry of Christ now various organization has set many rules and guidelines where they have placed pastor to guide the believers and teach them God’s word.
Pastors are doing their work on behalf of Jesus and they are now doing the role of a shepherd. We can know how Jesus asked Peter three times to lead his people and it began on the day of Pentecost Peter stood and shared the gospel to men of various tribes.
We must respect and honor our pastors who are faithfully doing their work. To appreciate and honor them the following bible verses will help us to know their works and how much they are giving their labor for the expansion of God’s kingdom.
Jeremiah 3:15(KJV) “And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.”
In the Old Testament God spoke with his people by appointing and anointing some special persons. They talked on behalf of God to the children of Israel. They were the spokespersons of God.
Hebrews 13:17(KJV) “Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.”
Believers should obey the pastors and all the leaders who are appointed by the Lord. Sometimes we may not like them and their works but we should know that they are not doing by their will but God is using them and controlling them.
1 Thessalonians 5:12-13(KJV) “And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.”
We must respect and love our pastors who are working for the Lord. We have to think for them because they are praying and taking care of us. In that case, sometimes they face financial troubles and we need to support them.
1 Timothy 5:17(KJV) “Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.”
Pastors and evangelists and the leaders who are working for the sake of God must be honored. Our little steps will encourage them to bring more lost souls into the kingdom of God and we will also be rewarded for our little help.
2 Timothy 4:2(KJV) “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.”
Pastors have so many duties whereas they must look to their believers. They play the role of a shepherd and he guides them and protects them from all kinds of false doctrines which are now coming into the church.
Romans 10:14(KJV) “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?”
A pastor preaches the gospel and things begin to change in that place. People change their ways by hearing the word of God. To make people hear the word of God pastors are the ones who share the gospel and bring the light of God into those people’s life.
1 Corinthians 9:14(KJV) “Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.”
No one can become a pastor by his own desire but it is God who chooses and appoint for his kingdom. We must know this and honor them for the work that they do for the sake of God and it also helps people to know the truth which sets them free from their sins.
James 3:1(KJV) “My brethren, be not many masters, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation.”
Pastors are the messenger of God to the people. They should teach the word of God rightly because they are to receive more punishment than others. So we need to pray for them so they can receive more wisdom from the Lord.
Ephesians 4:11(KJV) “And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;”
To extend God’s kingdom the Lord himself made some apostles. Some prophets, some pastors, some teachers, and some evangelists. So we need to obey what God speaks through them. Let us listen to them and honor them to show how much we love God.
Isaiah 55:4(KJV) “Behold, I have given him for a witness to the people, a leader and commander to the people.”
God did not leave his people alone. He selects some people to guide and teach them so they walk in the right direction. Otherwise, they will lose their way and the devil will devour them.
Acts 20:28(KJV) “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.”
When we honor and respect our pastors, we actually honor God. because they are appointed by the Lord. When we show them love and take care of them it directly goes to the Lord and we receive blessings for that little act.
Hebrews 13:7(KJV) “Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.”
Believers are to know the pastors who really work for the Lord. tey should support them in their works and by doing that they also become a part of God’s kingdom.
1 Thessalonians 1:3(KJV) “Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;”
The works that God’s people are doing will be revealed on the day of the judgment. We must fear the Lord and work for his kingdom in order to save the lost souls. To do so we must help our pastors in their works.
