The Lord makes us happy and we know how much we feel joy when we walk with him. There are some incidents in the bible where we notice the people of God danced for the Lord.
We usually dance when we are happy and show it by our external behavior which is dancing. In today’s time, we can also dance for the Lord to show how happy we are with the Lord.
How and why the children of God should dance for the Lord can be known in detail after reading the following bible verses. We will know the actual cause of dancing and how it can bring blessings in our lives too.
Psalm 150:4(KJV) “Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.”
This verse is telling us to dance for the Lord as a medium of praise and honor him. The Lord continuously blessings us and we are to say to him how much happy we are through this manner of praising.
2 Samuel 6:14-16(KJV) “And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod. So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet. And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart.”
We should know that there is a consequence when we dishonor God’s people. Here we see how the queen looked at David while he was dancing and as a result of that, she remained barren till death.
Exodus 15:20-21(KJV) “And Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. And Miriam answered them, Sing ye to the Lord, for he hath triumphed gloriously; the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the sea.”
Our dance before the Lord makes him bless more and we also feel the presence of God in our midst. There are so many reasons in our world to dance but we must dance in front of God for his love, care, and protection.
Jeremiah 31:12-13(KJV) “Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the Lord, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the herd: and their soul shall be as a watered garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all. Then shall the virgin rejoice in the dance, both young men and old together: for I will turn their mourning into joy, and will comfort them, and make them rejoice from their sorrow.”
Life with God makes us feel the joy and peace that we get from the Lord. We should not avoid the words of God which have tremendous power in our lives. Let us give our best to praise God as he deserves that. We cannot neglect his blessings for mankind.
Jeremiah 31:4(KJV) “Again I will build thee, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy tabrets, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.”
God promised the Children of Israel to build them up again. They were asked to honor him and dance in front of him to show their love and respect. We should always remain thankful to the Lord for his presence in our lives.
Psalm 30:11-12(KJV) “Thou hast turned for me my mourning into dancing: thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.”
Though we work hard still we will fail to meet our needs. But with God, we can move the mountain. So our lives should be based on God’s instructions which will make us happy and we will remain peaceful every moment.
Psalm 149:3-4(KJV) “Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.”
What can we give to God? We have nothing but we can praise his name because of his deliverance act and comforting us in our trials. People may find us stupid while we dance, sing, and praise God but we must remember that we are doing all for the Lord.
1 Chronicles 15:29(KJV) “And it came to pass, as the ark of the covenant of the Lord came to the city of David, that Michal, the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she despised him in her heart.”
We should not look at the world when we come before the Lord. Let us open our hearts and honor God the way we feel comfortable. God wants to know our hearts and he feels good when we shout and dance for his sake.
1 Samuel 18:6-7(KJV) “And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick. And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.”
King David was known for his intimacy with the Lord. He never remained silent when he received blessings from God. He built a closer relationship with the Lord and he did not care about anyone while he danced before the Lord.
Ecclesiastes 3:4(KJV) “A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;”
Let us feel free to dance in the sight of God. When we are happy and satisfied let us forget the world and thank God and praise his name by dancing and clapping our hands.
