In Jesus Christ, we find ourselves in a new way. We are to abstain from all kinds of habits and practices that do not glorify God. Here, following your passion means walking in a way that our heart directs. But we must not obey what our hearts say rather we need to listen to what the Lord says to do.
We may have desires and plans for our lives but we have to sacrifice them in order to allow God to control us. When we put God first and let him work in our lives we actually find the life that the Lord has desired to give.
Let us read and meditate upon the following scripture that will help us not to follow our passion and direct in such a way that we will be blessed at the end.
Colossians 3:23(KJV) “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”
Galatians 5:24(KJV) “And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.”
1 Corinthians 10:31(KJV) “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.”
Matthew 6:21(KJV) “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”
1 Corinthians 7:9(KJV) “But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.”
1 Thessalonians 4:4-5(KJV) “That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God.”
Colossians 3:5(KJV) “Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”
Ephesians 4:31(KJV) “Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice.”
Philippians 2:2(KJV) “Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.”
1 Corinthians 9:24-27(KJV) “Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible. I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air: But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.”
Colossians 3:14(KJV) “And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.”
Romans 12:11(KJV) “Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;”
Romans 7:5(KJV) “For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.”
