Every relationship needs to be based on respect. Since everyone wants to be respected, we all need to reciprocate that regard. Respect is effective in fostering long-lasting, happy relationships.
So that any relationship can be praiseworthy, husband and wife, parents, and kids all need respect. As the Lord has instructed us, we are to respect and honour all persons. Nobody should be treated with contempt, and doing so will make us think negatively.
We are new creatures in Christ and ought to treat everyone with respect if we want to enjoy our relationship.

Ephesians 5:33 Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
