Many people are aware of the importance of baptism and the Bible gives us a lot of information about it. But we need to study the Bible very carefully when we discuss infant baptism.
Infant baptism has been practiced by numerous churches. However, the Bible does not support it. There is not a single verse in the Bible that supports baby baptism, and there are no instances of infant baptism recorded in the text.
Those who turn from their sins are urged to be baptized, but we are aware that children are incapable of understanding sin and cannot turn from it. Therefore, the baptism of infants is a wholly false teaching. It violates what the Lord actually commands us to do, thus we shouldn’t practice it in our churches.
The Bible has several verses that explain why baptism is important and how it affects our life. However, the Bible never commands us to baptize our children. Instead, we might offer our kids to the Lord.
I’ve listed a few Bible texts that can assist us to understand the significance of baptism and who is eligible to receive it. The passages that come after do not endorse baby baptism because it is intended for adults who have come to know their sinfulness and have repented of it.
To comprehend the meaning of baptism, let’s read and reflect on the following scriptures.
